Joe and Whitney are like family to me – maybe because we kind of ARE like family! Whitney’s sister is my son’s fabulous stepmother, and so their family has become our bonus family. I’ve been taking their photos for a few years now, but this session was special, because it’s their first family photos since the Camp Fire devastated our town of Paradise, and spread all of us far and wide. In fact, this was the first time that I’d seen them since the fire happened 6 weeks ago. I was so glad to spend some time with them, and with some SMILES on our faces!

You may remember the Allens – they actually had a video of them that went viral following the fire, of Joe comforting Olivia as they drove through the flames to safety on her third birthday. You can view that video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkkxpOX8Jgc

We decided to head to Ancil Hoffman Park – a place that I’ve gone to since I was a kid myself! Their trails are so beautiful and peaceful.

Olivia was gifted this beautiful and special necklace after the fire – it says “Brave” on it, because she was so brave that day.

We had a beautiful time, and it was so great to get out for my first time as an official Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln, Sacramento area family photographer. I’m so looking forward to creating many more moments like these for local families!
